I want to help, but can I really make a difference? Yes, you can!

The issues of vulnerable animals in need are overwhelming! Current statistics from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the Humane Society, and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals are truly heartbreaking:

¨    Roughly 6.5 million animals enter shelters each year

¨    There is an average 72-hour window of hope for an animal left at a shelter to be found or returned

¨    Approximately 690,000 animals are euthanized each year because shelters are too full

¨    For every 10 dogs born, only 1 will find a forever home

¨    There are an estimated 70 million lost, abandoned, or stray animals wandering the streets of the United States

While the outlook seems very bleak there are many opportunities to make a difference not only in the life or an animal in need but also in your life. Partnering with an animal rescue is extremely rewarding and can bring families closer together.

 You can…….

¨    Donate money - animal rescues are always in need of money to cover vet costs, training needs and extended housing for the most vulnerable pets

¨    Donate time - do you have a special bond with animals? Assist your local rescue in light training, socializing or just spending a day with a new friend

¨    Network – maybe you are not able to donate money or time but what about your people you know who can help? Assist your local rescue by posting information regularly on your social media accounts, be the voice of animals in need. Schedule donation drives, volunteer opportunities or assist with animal care.

¨    Open your home – foster an animal and help them find their forever home. Many people think could never give up a foster pet but it is very gratifying to find the perfect home for an unwanted pet.

¨    Get involved – rescues always need help with promoting animals available for adoption, are you a creative writer, artistic photographer/videographer or even a seamstress/Taylor who van make great costumes? Any or all of these things help to get a pet in need noticed by potential adopters.

Yes, you can make a difference! One dollar, one hour, one post, one photo, one animal at a time. You can make all the difference in the world.

Haven Dog Rescue is a small, grass roots rescue for hard to place dogs. We get most of our animals from shelters when they are running out of time. Support your local rescues. Thank you.
